The day after Christmas: A day in the life of Becky Green.

Most of my days begin with the sound of my mother's voice. Sometimes it's a conversation she's having in the kitchen with my father. Occasionally, I can hear her firmly notifying the sales person on the other end of the phone that she is, quite frankly, not interested. Mostly, it involves her voice telling my younger brothers what to do or what not to do. On this particular day, she was attempting to rip the covers off me so I would wake up. It was Sunday morning, you see... Church is a big deal in the Green household. There has never been a Sunday where we were not reminded of Jesus' existences. She is never really soft about awakening me; honestly, you can't be soft about it. I'm not sure if I even have a pulse when I sleep. I was quick to pull the covers back onto my now freezing body. It's amazing the love between me and my comforters. Yes, there was an "s" at the end of that word; I have two comforters that I sleep with, even in the summertime. I snuggled back into my covers and mumbled some words about how it would be okay if I just went to service and not Sunday school. I always wake up on Sunday mornings hoping that it's daylight savings and I'll be able to sleep an extra hour. After 20 minutes of arguing with myself about whether or not it would be safe to venture out of my comforters to face the igloo of a house that I seemed to be living in,  I sat up and got ready for my morning at Church. I really did look cute.  Blue top, short pencil skirt, tights, and my most prized oxford booties. To add to the detail of this story, I literally listened to the song "Shut Up and Let Me Go" by "The Ting Tings" the whole way to church. That's approximately 5 1/2 times. What can I say? I really do love that song. I honestly felt very rebellious for not going to Sunday School. I felt, excuse my french, Bad Ass. I really think it's the booties. They give me a whole new perspective on how I view myself and others. So chic. The service was genuinely okay. I always feel like people are watching the entire row that my family sits on. We kind of stand out. It may have something to do with a note that passes from one end of the row all the way to the other where my mother is sitting. I just don't understand why mom doesn't bring her cellphone to church, it would be less dramatic to send her a quick message. As if the note passing isn't enough, people notice that there is always movement on our row too. I sincerely believe that my entire family has restless leg syndrome, my brother has restless arm syndrome. He is always trying to pick a fight in the middle of the service. To say the least, Sunday mornings are always a reminder of how well God matched our family. I don't think anyone in the world could understand our complete weirdness the way we all do, and we accept it too. Service is over and drive home alone... yes, I did listen to that one song a few times again on the way back to the household. I got home and didn't even change out of my sexified outfit. Instead I found my comfort zone on the couch and got on my macbook. I really don't have to get into much detail at this point, macbook means facebook, itunes, amazon, and forever 21. My family arrived home safely, unharmed and they swiftly ALL got in their pajamas and came into the living room. My mac time was definitely being intruded. It was a good intrusion though, some genius soul in my family was hit with the idea that we should watch "Sleepless in Seattle" in our PJ's. It was quite brilliant. How I love Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. About fifteen minutes into the movie I was out like a light. I woke up 4 hours later to a mystery movie... that probably explains why I was having such a  mysterious dream. At any rate, I had plans to go to dinner and a movie so I quickly started getting ready for the evening. I won't tell you what I had on because frankly, I have no idea. It involved a hoodie and a peacoat. It was simply freezing outside. I went to drop off my redbox. I have an issue, you see, I always forget to turn in my redbox. So it typically costs me about 4 to 5 dollars every time I get one. No worries though.. I always re watch the movie.  I like to get my dollars worth, every night. At any rate I get to the redbox and the woman in front of me was sliding her card wrong. Not just once. She slid it wrong about 5 times. Despite my complete irritation with the idiotic woman, I bit my tongue and she finally got it right and left. As I'm walking back to my car it starts snowing. This is never a good sign to me. Snow is only a reminder that is really, extremely outside. I get to the mexican restaurant and realize that I really don't want to hang out with the particular group of people I'm fixing to spend the next 6 hours with. It's work people and our conversation topic consist of; you guessed it, work. Since we can only discuss  so many ways of how to clean an ice machine or make chicken at the Chick-Fil-A on Wastonmexican restaurant and heading 2 minutes to the theatre, I would like to inform on one of my Christmas. This Christmas is crucial to the rest of the evening. My parents purchased a very nice FlipIt CamCorder. Ever since I had opened this lovely, glorious present I had carried it in my gray Forever 21 peacoat. I'm at the theatre, now sitting in the movies. At one point during the movie a girl heard something fall on the ground and she thought it was one of the guys cellphones. Well, as I'm leaving the theatre I slowly begin to realize that that crash she might've heard was possibly my glorious, lovely camcorder. I rush to my 98 Corolla where I literally begin to rip it apart... To prevent an even more awkward evening I just said "Goodbye" to everyone and went and parked somewhere else, went back inside of the theatre and started crawling on the theatre floor where I had just been sitting and enjoying a slightly dumb movie. Let's get one thing clear cellphone lights are not flashlights. While I'm crawling on the floor feeling a bit like Audrey Hephburn in "Wait Until Dark"; I reach for something that looked similar to a camera, all you have to know is that it was not a camcorder. It was something sticky and not glorious or lovely. I eventually gave the theatre my name and number, they told me they would call me IF they found it. I then left the theatre in a state of depression over my irresponsibility. I don't if I told you but I didn't eat anything at the mexican place, nothing seemed appealing. So I went to Taco Bell with my best friend and sat in the Starbucks empty parking lot while eating my 5 layer Beefey Burrito. I stayed in that parking lot talking to my best friend for a very long time. You see, it doesn't matter how terrible a days been. She's always there to be an honest opinion, partner in crime, disaster relief, shopping comrade, eating consort, and my better half. I came home and had a battle with my mother which was similar to the Battle of Fort Sumtner. Which incase you were wondering was very short because the Fort Sumtner surrendered almost immediately. Then me and my mother had life chats. I turned on Gilmore Girls and fell asleep to Rory argue with her mother. Now isn't that just the way.
